Certance

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Certance was a computer tape drive manufacturer with headquarters in Costa Mesa, California. It was spun-off of Seagate Technology into an independent company in November, 2000. Certance made DDS tape drives and was one of the three original technology partners that created Linear Tape-Open.

Seagate Removable Storage Systems, which became Certance in April, 2003, was assembled in 1996 with the acquisition of Conner Peripherals into Seagate Technology. This organization included elements of several other storage companies, Archive Corporation, Irwin Magnetics, Cipher Data Products, and Maynard Electronics. Certance was acquired by Quantum in 2005.
