Talk:Centropyge
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
If the pictured fish is a Centropyge, why does it say on the picture that it is a Holacanthus? BigBlueFish 10:54, 1 April 2006 (UTC)
- Because Holacanthus bispinosus was its original name; it was renamed, and the accepted name is now Centropyge bispinosus [1]. Note that the picture was published in 1903. -- Eugene van der Pijll 11:00, 1 April 2006 (UTC)
- Gotcha. I was only concerned because of the existence of both genuses - the fact that it was simply misnamed makes sense from that link. Thanks. BigBlueFish 19:44, 2 April 2006 (UTC)
