Central Mountain Air

Central Mountain Air is a airline based in Smithers, British Columbia, Canada. It operates scheduled and charter services and transborder services. Its main base is Smithers Airport (YYD), with hubs at Calgary International Airport, Vancouver International Airport and Prince George Airport.

The airline was established and started operations in 1987. It is wholly owned by 580741 BC. In 1997 Central Mountain air placed an order for additional Raytheon Beech 1900D Airliner aircraft and began operating as an Air Canada Connector, replacing Air BC service on several routes within Alberta and British Columbia. Today Central Mountain Air still operates a handful of routes on behalf of Air Canada, although most of their routes are now operated under their own code 9M, and sold as Central Mountain Air flights. In late 2005 the first of two Dornier 328 were delivered to the airline, with the second arriving in early 2006, for use on chartered and scheduled flights.
Central Mountain Air is sister companies with Northern Thunderbird Air (NT Air) which operates charter and cargo services from Prince George, Smithers, and Vancouver.

Central Mountain operates services to the following domestic scheduled destinations (as of April 2006): Calgary, Campbell River, Comox, Dawson Creek, Edmonton, Fort Nelson, Fort St John, High Level, Kamloops, Kelowna, Lloydminster, Prince George, Quesnel, Rainbow Lake, Smithers, Terrace, Vancouver and Williams Lake. Central Mountain also operates the following domestic routes on behalf of Air Canada from Calgary to Grande Prairie, Lethbridge, Medicine Hat, and Cranbrook.
