In heraldry, cendrée is a tincture, the colour of Iron and Walls (i.e., gray). It is not used in English heraldry but quite frequent on the continent, in France in particular derived from widespread use in German Heraldry. In Italian Heraldry the gray colors have been often replaced with blue celeste. The name "cendree" derives from French "ash coloured".
