Cedar Valley Jaguars
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Cedar Valley Jaguars are a second year franchise in the International Basketball League (2005-) based in Waterloo, Iowa. The team was originally called the Waterloo Kings during their first season, but was forced by the NBA's Sacramento Kings to change their name. The Jaguars are owned by Eddie Diaz. The Chief Information Officer is Ryan Finger.
The team played home games their first season at three arenas; West Gymnasium, Columbus High School, and Young Arena. All home games for the 2006 season will be played at Young Arena.
The team's first season was a disappointment on and off the court. The Kings were 3-14, and led in scoring by Nelson Maisonet (21.4 ppg) and was coached by Anthony Thomas. John Holmes will coach the squad for the 2006 season.
Despite this apparent lack of success, the team created a buzz when they signed Tim Hardaway to play in several games. For 2006, Dennis Rodman will suit up for two games. The news of this made national media outlets.
