Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. You have added Category:Cyclists to a number of articles where it was not needed. If a person is a category like Category:American cyclists they do not also need to be in Category:Cyclists. - SimonP 19:24, July 12, 2005 (UTC)

The Wikipedia polices in this matter are fairly well entrenched. Wikipedia:Categorization outlines these rules, and it specifically states that "An article should not be in both a category and its subcategory, for example Microsoft Office is in Category:Microsoft software, so should not also be in Category:Software." Feel free to disagree with these polices, but if you want them changed please bring the matter up at Wikipedia talk:Categorization. - SimonP 03:16, July 20, 2005 (UTC)
The long term plan is to have this functionality, so that a user will be able to click to see every article in Category:Cyclists or every one in Category:Spanish sportspeople. Unfortunately, for the present, we will have to cope with looking at subcategories one at a time. - SimonP 03:39, July 20, 2005 (UTC)
