[edit] Image Tagging for Image:GBA1(trimmed).jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:GBA1(trimmed).jpg. The image page currently doesn't specify who created the image, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created the image yourself then you need to indicate why we have the right to use the image on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the image yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the image also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture then you can use {{GFDL}} to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the image qualifies under Wikipedia's fair use guidelines, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as {{fairusein|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use. If you want the image to be deleted, tag it as {{db-unksource}}.

If you have uploaded other images, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of image pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion.

[edit] Fire Down Below

  • Fire down below is used generally as a term for people with red hair. Although in a narrow sense this term refers to pubic hair, a "true" redhead is said to have "fire down below" because such a person has red hair not only on the head but also in the pubic area. Thus, in common usage, to say that someone has "fire down below" is an affirmation that this person is a natural redhead. In short, this term refers to somethign more then pubic hair. Thanks for asking -- I posted this not to be silly but because this is probably as common a way to refer to redheads as "titian" or "ginger". Interestingstuffadder 16:33, 16 March 2006 (UTC)

(Reply on users talk page)

No, "fire down below" is a slur not a nickname for redheads and doesn't belong on the redhead page. Maybe on the Raciscm against redheads page.

[edit] Butch

I thought you would be interested in this: A&E/History Channel is looking into new evidence about Butch Cassidy. This evidence is revealing through bone structure analysis that the mug photo of Robert Parker does not match Butch Cassidy in the Wild Bunch photo of the group. A&E is now looking into letters between William T. Phillips (in Washington) and William Butch Wagner (in Silverton, Colorado). William Wagner is noted for having a similar criminal history to that of the actual Butch Cassidy, and is noted for using explosives to rob banks, trains, and to rescue his nephew from a jail in Telluride, Colorado. He is also belived to have disappered from the country for several years but returned in the 1910's. Gwag

Gwag you vex me.

[edit] Wikipedia:Manual of Style (pronunciation)

From the manual of style:

Pronunciation transcriptions based on traditional English spelling are discouraged. Forms such as pro-NUN-see-AY-shun are of no help to people whose first language isn't English. However it may be helpful to add comments such as "rhymes with..." or "stress on the first syllable".

the iBook of the Revolution 16:43, 23 May 2006 (UTC)

(this was a response to me wanting to write "pronounced spō-CAN" on the Spokane header) That's a bunch of crap. I agree that the first pronunciation listed should be the dictionary kind, but then you just gotta have something for the 99% of people that don't know how to read those. The one you propose is even harder than a dictionary kind - it's like only a linguist can read it. Sheesh!

[edit] Northwest history

Hi CDA! It would be fun to look at the articles you listed & check them out. I'm still a Wikipedia newby, so it would be good to have some specific projects to work on, with help from someone more knowledgeable in the ways of Wikipedia.--Country Wife 15:35, 22 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Wiki Project Eastern Washington

Hey, I just created a WikiProject for Eastern Washington, and since you are an active editor on the Spokane (even tho you are from Idaho) page I thought you might be interested and able to help with the project. Please check it out by clicking on my name, the link is on the top of my userpage. Thanks SpokaneWilly 05:39, 7 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] 204.9.11.123 (talkcontribslogsblock userblock log)

Hello CDA, thanks for your good work in reporting this at WP:AIV. Can I ask that you sign and date your warning posts to user talk pages, and place them at the bottom of the page. This allows the checking admin to find them quickly and ensure that warnings related to the user's edit history have been properly issued. I've blocked this IP address meantime, and warned the other one. You seem to be an active editor on the affected page, so please report any further problems as before. Happy editing. --Cactus.man 20:11, 12 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Veterans benefits

Hi there, I saw your request for help on Veterans benefits, and I agree, it should be its own article. Here's a direct link to the redirect for editing: http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Veterans_benefits&redirect=no

However, you don't need an admin to untangle a redirect -- if you notice, when you click on Veterans benefits and get redirected to United States Department of Veterans Affairs, there's a small subheader underneath the page title, which says "(Redirected from Veterans benefits)". If you click that link, you'll be taken back to the actual redirect (same as the url I posted above, with "redirect=no" at the end), and can click "edit this page" as normal to remove the #REDIRECT code and create whatever page you like there.

Hope that will help you next time you run into a situation like this! — Catherine\talk 03:14, 18 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Free use images Category?

I notice your wikilinks page is in the Free use images category. If you really want to display the copyright images template, you might consider using the code for it, but removing the category link from it. -Freekee 03:38, 1 October 2006 (UTC)

thanks, freekee, I fixed that now

  • shrug* Not sure if it was a big deal. :-) I only noticed it because I noticed my talk page was in the category, and then went to see if others caused the same problem. I think that if you really want to display the template, you can grab its source code, and build it, leaving out the category part. cheeris! Freekee
