CBDC
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The United States Army Chemical and Biological Defense Command, known better by its acronym CBDC, was a part of the US Army. Despite reports to the contrary, The CBDC actually did exist in real life but it was reorganized in the 1990s to become a new organization called Soldier and Biological Command or SBCCOM. In 2003, it was reorganized to become several organizations called RDECOM (Research, Development and Engineering Command); CMA(Chemical Materials Agency); GUARDIAN BRIGADE; PM NBC(PM Nuclear, Biological and Chemical Defense); and SSC(Soldiers System Center). In the Syphon Filter videogame series, their duties seem to be an amalgamation of HAZMAT and CDC, as well as the Army in general.

[edit] Role in Syphon Filter
They are first seen in the very first level of the game, as allies of Gabriel Logan. They are wearing yellow NBC protective gear, and equipped with M-16 and .45 pistols. They are seen through out the game (especially during the first few levels), mentioned in passing, and seen in the ending cutscenes.
[edit] Role in Syphon Filter 2
In the second game of the series, the CBDC are featured more prominently than before. This time they seem to be more like commandos than bio-warfare soldiers. In this game, we meet Jason Chance, a Lieutenant in the U.S. special forces attached to CBDC who had led their operations in the first game, as well as Private John Ramirez, who is one of the few commandos to survive a major firefight in the Colorado Rockies that takes up the first half of the game.
[edit] Role in Syphon Filter 3
By the time of the third game, the CBDC organization is nowhere to be found, and isn't mentioned at all for the most part.
[edit] Role in Syphon Filter: Omega Strain
Again, the CBDC does not feature in this game, and their duties are taken up by smaller organizations such as the CHA, etc.
