From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
CAWs.ws is a fansite and internet forum dedicated to games from the WWE SmackDown! video game series. The site is widely regarded as the world's biggest website dedicated to the series' Create-A-Superstar (CAS) (more popularly known as Create-A-Wrestler (CAW) mode). In addition, the site provides content such as movesets, entrances and various resources for the games. It also allows users to upload their own CAWs for others to use.

[edit] History
According to one of the site’s owners, Tom Rice, the site originally started as a free-hosted personal website, which developed into a CAW site before moving to its own domain & server due to its popularity. The site originally catered for the PlayStation game WWF SmackDown! 2: Know Your Role. Since then the site has gone on to provide additional content for the Here Comes The Pain and the WWE SmackDown! vs. RAW varieties of the game. The website is now providing CAWs for the new 2007 version of the SmackDown! vs. Raw game.
As the CAW engine constantly improves with each new game in the series, the mode allows users to alter more features and create CAWs in higher levels of detail. CAWs are available of traditional wrestlers such as Randy Savage or Sgt. Slaughter and non-wrestlers such as the Crazy Frog. Members also frequently make up their own characters, these are known as original or custom CAWs.
CAWs.ws also provides game saves for the game which include CAWs, and are made available for download for devices such as Max Drive, Codebreaker, X-Port and Sharkport.
CAWs.ws hosts a community where CAW makers can share their work and receive feedback. As well as this, CAWs.ws has a graphics forum where members create and share wrestling related images & graphics.
[edit] Media publicity
In issue #172 of the GamesMaster magazine, CAWs.ws was featured on page 45 during a first look at SmackDown vs. Raw 2007.
Some of the CAWs from the website were also featured in a cheatbook by Official PlayStation 2 Magazine (OPSM2). The book was made to update your roster with the CAWs, which included the likes of Ken Kennedy and Bobby Lashley.
