Cavendish Road State High School is a co-educational, state secondary school located in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. Established in 1952, Cavendish Road State High School was the second state high school to be built in the suburbs of Brisbane. The school is a short distance from the centre of Brisbane and is serviced by an excellent network of bus routes.
The school motto “Nil sine pulvere” translates roughly from latin as “nothing without dust, nothing without effort” and represents well the focus of the school on achievement through positive commitment and co-operation. The increasingly market driven approach of schooling in Queensland ([1]) has also led Cavendish Road State High to develop "Excellence Programs" in Science and Sport. These include the Brisbane Acadamy of Science, and soccer, netball, touch and rugby league excellence programs. As part of these "Excellence Programs" the school has developed partnerships with the University of Queensland, Griffith University and the Queensland University of Technology, which allow eligible students to exit Year 12 with credit, fee free, towards a university degree. A number of relationships with various sporting associations and private businesses (for Apprenticeships/Traineeships) in Queensland have also been developed.

It was the end of an era on Friday the 1st of December as old houses Greenmount, Elgar and Holland were bid goodbye in a farewell ceremony. The new houses (named after ex famous or noteworthy Cav Rodians), are named Harrop House (after the Harrop Family including Loretta Harrop), Harper House, Paige House and Johnson house (after Dick Johnson). Harper house will be yellow (formally elgar), Harrop house will be red (formally holland), Paige house will be purple (the new colour) and Johnson house will be blue (formally greenmount). The houses were changed as Greenmount won by so much points it was considered unfair.
