Cathay Pacific had served the following destinations with passenger service in the past, but had since discontinued the service.

  • Kolkata (service discontinued in the 1970s)
  • Brunei (service discontinued in late 1980's)
  • Dhahran (discontinued in late 1980s as a stop in the airline's Hong Kong - Europe services)
  • Kaohsiung (thrice daily non-stop service from Hong Kong using L1011 discontinued and transferred to Dragonair in 1997)
  • Manchester (daily service from Hong Kong via Amsterdam or Paris using A340-300 and 747-400 discontinued in 2002, now planning to be resumed in 2006)
  • Istanbul (twice weekly non-stop service from Hong Kong using A340-300 discontinued in 1998)
  • Phnom Penh (service discontinued in the 1970s after civil war broke out in Cambodia)
  • Port Moresby (service discontinued in late 1980s as a stop in the airline's Hong Kong - Auckland service)
  • Rangoon (service discontinued in the 1970s)
  • Shanghai (twice daily non-stop service from Hong Kong using L1011 discontinued and transferred to Dragonair in 1989, CX will be restarting service from 1st December 2006)
  • Stockholm (daily service from Hong Kong via Frankfurt using 747-400 discontinued in 1997, restarted with Cargo service in Sep 2006)
  • Vientiane (service discontinued in the 1970s after Communist takeover of Laos)
  • Zurich (five weekly non-stop service from Hong Kong using A340-300 discontinued in 2002)
