Cathédrale Saint-Pierre de Rennes
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Cathédrale Saint-Pierre de Rennes is a French national monument located in the town of Rennes.
The Cathedral was built between 1784 and the middle of the 19th century to replace a church that was on the brink of collapse. It was originally decorated in a plain, neo-classical style, but was refurbished in the 1800s, and decorated with gilt, stucco and paintings to create a more rich, sumptuous appearance.
The paintings in the Cathedral were inspired by those in the Parliament of Rennes.
