Catalunya Ràdio

Catalunya Ràdio is Catalonia's public radio network. It belongs to the CCRTV, who in turn belongs to the Generalitat de Catalunya. Catalunya Ràdio broadcasts programs only in Catalan and its nowadays the major catalan network, even if it was not the first to broadcast in Catalan (that was RNE's Radio 4).
Catalunya Ràdio started broadcasting in June 20, 1983. Over the years, it has grown to include four stations:
- Catalunya Ràdio - The first one that gave the network its name. A generalist station that broadcasts 24h a day and its audience leader in Catalonia. [1]
- Catalunya Música - Founded on May 10, 1987, Catalunya Música specializes in classical and contemporary music, plus specialized music programs. Broadcasts 24h a day.
- Catalunya Informació - Created September 11, 1992, it was first news-only station in Spain. Broadcasts 24h a day.
- iCat fm - Launched in April 23, 2006, its a multi-media radio station closely linked to the Internet, that promotes both traditional and contemporany culture.
Catalunya Ràdio has grown significantly since its inception, and currently is available in Catalonia, Valencia, the Balearic Islands, Northern Catalonia, La Franja and Andorra.
