[edit] Huge problem
The LAST SENTENCE in this article - about the original Me & U video - was just popped in by someone with no sense of organization. Also, it hasn't been "rumoured" - it EXISTS. It's constantly being added and deleted from youtube. Cassie herself has even addressed it, saying it could have scarred the beginnings of a bright future. We need the video controversey in this main article.
[edit] Ugh
YOU NEED TO CITE WHAT YOU WRITE There are no citations for her being "romantically linked" to Ryan Leslie. There is no citation for the stuff on her modeling and having to lose weight. Why is there so much bullshit on this one new R&B/pop singer, who isn't even changing the way pop and R&B sound or function?! Why must people hate? Keipop 07:04, 8 September 2006 (UTC)keipop
Who the hell put the article in bullet form!?!? Admittedly, they sure re-worded it all nice... Oh, but they deleted everything about the original Me & U video. Le sigh...
Where is it stated that she has been romantically linked to Bow Wow? What Cassie actually said, on a radio appearance, was that Bow and Omarion tried to holler at her. According to her, both sent their numbers through a third party. It's never been said that she moved on either one of them.
.
The description of the original video is very false and seems like a cover-up. It was very, very suggestive (with the man carressing her head, which was (kneeling?) right below him) although there was one humorous part (where Cassie falls off the bed) the vid as a whole definately wasn't intended to be funny. (obviously, sexy was the goal - and it sure was : ) She also appeared in lingerie, posing on a bed a la Paris Hilton's sex tape. A blog entry on Cassie's myspace page addressed the video (calling it "that bad, bad video") and said its leaking was distressful to her. It's been deleted from most online media sites (like youtube.com) by now.
This article is terrible! Pathetic. "... as it turned out... wasn't the only one who loved it." Ridiculous. Far too casual. It needs some serious cleaning up, and the random boldface is distracting. I'd fix more, but I'm not entirely sober. : P
HUH?
she's pretty hot
[edit] what I added
I changed where it says African-American/Mexican mother to Afro-Mexican mother because the term Afro-Mexican is a simplier and more proper term for her mother's ancestry. I also added that she's an OPM singer which she is because her ballads incorperate Philippine sounds and I think I should know being part-Filipino myself.
[edit] cassie is a souberette
whether u want to face it or not cassie is a good old souberette in none of her live performances she has been able to do without lip-synching.
[edit] Me & U
About half of this article is about "Me & U". Perhaps the song should have its own article and all the details can be removed from here? -- eo 04:22, 13 July 2006 (UTC)
I agree, it seems "Me and U" should get it's own article. Otherwise this page is about Cassie and should reflect on her more, not just the one popular song she did. She's obviously very beautiful and has some talent so I'm sure the article will expand in the future.69.236.97.215 04:35, 26 July 2006 (UTC)
Well, for now, she's a one hit wonder. I know, I know - the song's still up on the charts at its new peak of #3 and all, but a followup success isn't due for another few weeks. Her song is also better known than she is herself - she even complained about it on her blog. It should really be an article for Me & U with a little blurb about the singer at the end. : P I'm half serious. I'll bet this is why Me & U redirects to Cassie's biography - they want to redirect all of the attention to the singer herself.
[edit] NPOV
As much as I agree with the controversy...well, that's the problem, I could agree/disagree with it. Although I don't believe she's a fantastic singer, saying her voice is questionable or saying she's too sexual are OPINIONS, even though I agree with both, OPINIONS are OPINIONS and they are not a neutral point of view..so I unfortunately have to bomb the section with a NPOV warning. -Anom8trw8
Huh? Neutrality? Okay, I'll help out and remove some adjectives but the section must remain! Perhaps under a different title, or we could move it to the Me & U article. 67.85.178.227
The neutrality is still skewed, and the section is poorly written. I think that the TRL and 106 & Park stuff is fine (I think there should be YouTube links to the performances because they really prove she performed poorly), but there are some citations and references needed for the radio interview requests for Cassie to sing live. It says her subsequent appearances were cancelled by her record label, but again, no citations. Without proper references, these are just easy punches at Cassie--a problem with neutrality.
I also have problems with the online petition issue. Has anyone read them? They are also poorly written and whoever wrote it doesn't seem to know anything about Cassie: "We all know she is a pretty girl, perhaps she would be more successful being a model, than she will be with her music career. Diddy what is your problem with signing this chick? If you don't want Bad Boy to fall off, we suggest you drop Cassie ASAP, and suggest that she audition for Top Model or something." Um, she was a successful model. How many "ethnic" people have you seen on an A&F bag?
And finally, I have a problem with the last paragraph: "Fans also complained about the seemingly preferential treatment Diddy was giving Cassie over her labelmates..." Why would Cassie's fans complain about Diddy's supposed preferential treatment? Fans of Danity Kane complained? And again, no evidence to prove any of this. Obviously I am a fan of Cassie, and I certainly don't want this page to become a Cassie fan page, but some of this article is just abominable for a Wikipedia entry. --keipop
[edit] It is not neccessary
- It isnt necessary to put what internet bloggers think about her performance. I think it should be taken out. PrincessOfHearts 21:39, 24 August 2006 (UTC)
NEVER, EVER underestimate the power of the people. Especially people with computers, bitch. 67.85.178.227
PrincessofHearts is right and furthermore, it isn't necessary to call people bithces.

Diddy's Comments:
Diddy told media sources this week:
"She had her first television performance, and she had an all right performance. You could hear the nervousness in her voice. And to be honest, I kind of smiled at it, because it made me really appreciate what I really love about her: She's a regular person. And we, as artists, we sometimes get nervous. I told her it's like riding a bike: You're gonna fall down, you got to keep on getting on it. I'm with her through her development, and I have no questioning on her ability, on her singing ability. It just made me appreciate that she got nervous, and it was kind of cute to me, to be honest.
"It takes time when you're developing a new artist," he continued. "You can't be fickle. Some people are going to have good days and bad days. The thing about Bad Boy is, we're with our artists through all days. She's not an artist that has a problem with her vocals or singing. You've got to understand that success for her is coming out of nowhere. It's just so huge, and sometimes everybody handles it differently. So I'm quite sure she'll get over it. She's going to have to. That's part of being a recording artist, and sometimes it takes time. I don't care how many performances it is, I'm going to be with her until she gets it right."

And the bloggers are not the only ones talking about her bad performances maybe that should be reworded.
Can someone add these sources to the page since I don't know how?
Thanks! yeah its not nessesay to add rumors or things that internet bloggers comment on. just write somthing positive
[edit] Please review article info
I know absolutely nothing about this person, but I came across this article when I was reviewing recent changes. I am pretty sure this woman was not born in Mexico, she has no bio information online (that I can find) that refers to this, but plenty that refers to her being born in New London, CT. I'm pretty sure this article has been vandalized, but maybe someone more familiar with the subject should take a bit of time to do an overview for accuracy on this point and others. Mutableye 00:08, 4 September 2006 (UTC)
she was born in New London, Connecticut. LightSpeed 02:04, 4 September 2006 (UTC)
info is getting better, nice bullet points and videos. but the danity kane/diddy point is still shakey even with the video, because that is "reality TV," which does not necessarily equal veracity and truth. Keipop 19:19, 6 September 2006 (UTC)keipop
[edit] Wow
what is up with the controversy section? is it really needed?PrincessOfHearts 21:32, 11 September 2006 (UTC) It is needed as it is relevant to her history. It would be like and article on OJ Simpson and not mentioning him killing his ex.

[edit] Me&u : France
Cassie's hit single me&u is #8 on French top single. Source : http://www.disqueenfrance.com/classements/singles/default.asp
You should add this information to her discography.
[edit] You guys completely destroyed the article!

Thats sad...anyway, I hope all of you guys have a good life and all that jazz, n' things your suppsoed to say.. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Saderocks (talk • contribs) 23:52, 20 October 2006 (UTC).

- For anyone there are going to be some people who don't like them. Should there be a "controversy" section on every article? Steve Dufour 01:41, 10 November 2006 (UTC)
Just a little heads up...I'm not re-adding the controversy thing, and to answer some of your question, no I didnt read the guide because...well, I have a life - which is probably more than I can say about you people. -Sade
[edit] Re: Controversy section
The "Controversy" section was removed because it fails to meet the Wikipedia guidelines for Biographies of living persons. It shouldn't be re-added without the proper citations per WP:REF. I also just removed the "Back on the Internet" section as it doesn't meet the No original research guidelines, in that it contains personal opinions. —B33RTalk •Contribs 15:17, 22 November 2006 (UTC)
24.45.55.115 01:21, 7 December 2006 (UTC)hi cassie my name is hakeem iam from brooklyn new york age 17 iam really attractive to both of your songs of long way 2 go and me and u. these are my favorite songs honestly the good things about both of your music videos is that i see that you are a excellent dancer. so what came to my mind is that you are a competent person that have the ability to do anything and thats good you should be proud of your self of the way you look because from my point of view. you look pretty but one thing i like about you is your smile so what iam trying to say here is that you are my favorite r n b female singer.
Um, Hakkem? You understand thatthere is a really low chance of Cassie reading that, right? If you really want her to see it, you might want to google around for her fanmail address. Spyco 23:54, 8 December 2006 (UTC)
