Castellarano is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Reggio Emilia in the Italian region Emilia-Romagna, located about 45 km west of Bologna and about 20 km southeast of Reggio Emilia. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 13,407 and an area of 57.5 km2.[1]

The municipality of Castellarano contains the frazioni (subdivisions, mainly villages and hamlets) Ca' de Grimaldi, Ca' de Ravazzini, Cadiroggio, Case Ferri, Castello La Croce, Farneto di Sotto, Le Ville, Montebabbio, Pradivia, Roteglia, Scuole, and Telarolo.

Castellarano borders the following municipalities: Baiso, Casalgrande, Prignano sulla Secchia, Sassuolo, Scandiano, Viano.
