Cassino (band)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Cassino is an acoustic/rock band from Huntsville, Alabama. It was created from the remnants of the rock band Northstar. Cassino is currently not signed to any record label.

[edit] History

In April 2005, Northstar posted a message on their website stating that the band was no longer in existence. However, Nick Torres, the singer and songwriter for the group did say that he would have other projects in the future.

On August 24th, 2005 a blog posting on Northstar's MySpace identified the new band, Cassino. Cassino consisted of Nick Torres and also another former Northstar band member, Tyler Odom. Since then, the band has added another member named Elliot Fountain. The blog also pointed to their new PureVolume page for Cassino.

The PureVolume page had three demos available for download. They were "The Gin War", "Platano", and "American Low". There was also a link to the band's new website, which at the time was simply a black page with the title "Cassino" and a link to the band's PureVolume page. The three tracks were recorded with Matt Squire, who also produced Northstar's sophomore album, and with Will Noon, from Straylight Run, on drums.

The band's website has been updated recently to include a new section specifically made for their head man on keyboards, Elliot Fountain. The section includes several pictures of the band and many pictures of random sightings from their tours. The website has remained relatively the same since it first started to operate, but it also features a video shot by Tyler Odom on his vintage 8mm camera.

On November 30th, 2006 their website announced the tentative title of their album, Sounds of Salvation, to be finished by the end of December.

[edit] Shows

Their shows are few and far between, usually touring with As Tall As Lions.
