[edit] Synopsis

Attending a dinner and dance at the Camberwell Chamber of Trade, Del Boy befriends Vimmal Malik. But there's a spot of bother when Malik is threatened by a sinister Mr. Ram.

He soon discovers the two men have a long running feud over an ancient statue, and any face-to-face negotiation is out of the question.

Seeing the chance to make some "readies" (money), Del offers his services as a "go-between" (negotiator). Mr Ram is willing to pay £4,000 for the heirloom and Del craftly offers Malik £2,000 - hoping to keep two grand for himself. But Ram won't hand over the money without the statue, and Vimmal won't let it go until he has the cash! Del decides the only solution is to raise the money himself, so he and Rodney pawn all thier possessions to make the £2,000 needed.

Despite almost smashing the valuble heirloom, Del manages to get it to Mr. Ram's restaurant in one piece. But it's soon apparent that their new pals are even dodgier than the Trotters!

At a hotel, Del and Rodney find out that Mr. Ram and Malik have already left London. When Del suggests that they go get something to eat, Rodney suggests a curry house down the road, which angers Del do much he throws the heirloom at his younger brother.

[edit] Quotes

Rodney: No sign of Vimmal?
Del: No, he packed his bags and had it away on his toes five minutes after we left! As Macbeth said to Hamlet in A Midsummer Night's Dream: "We've been done up like a couple of kippers."

[edit] Trivia

  • The idea for the script was based purely on the name of the episode Cash and Curry, from that the script was devised.
