Case Foundation

Founded in 1997 by AOL co-founder Steve Case and his wife Jean Case, the Case Foundation invests in a number of initiatives intended to address entrenched social problems. Its mission is "to achieve sustainable solutions to complex social problems by investing in collaboration, leadership, and entrepreneurship."

Some of the foundation's current grantees include Roundabout PlayPumps, an innovative system that provides water to rural African villages; City Year, an AmeriCorps program that provides full-time, year-long service opportunities for young people; Accelerate Brain Cancer Cure, a nonprofit that incorporates an entrepreneurial, venture capital approach and new forms of collaboration; America's Promise, an alliance of organizations seving children and youth; and many other local, national, and international organizations.

The foundation is deeply involved in volunteering and civic engagement, and CEO Jean Case is chair of the President's Council on Service and Civic Participation.

Past grantees and initiatives have included PowerUP, the Boys & Girls Clubs of America, Habitat for Humanity, Children's National Medical Center, and Special Olympics.
