Talk:Carrion Crow
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Is there a reason these are capitalized? Shammack 18:41 Apr 17, 2003 (UTC)
- Species are capitalised "Carrion Crow" or "Crow" for short. Groups of birds, "the crows", the "woodpeckers" are not. Scientific names are capitalised except at species level, eg Corvus corone. See any bird (or mammal) field guide or similar.
- Otherwise there is the possibility of confusion between say "The Nuthatches" all Sitta sitta, or "the nuthatches" 20 odd species of Sittidae. jimfbleak 18:47 Apr 17, 2003 (UTC)
