Cartaxo (pron. IPA: [kɐɾ'taʃu]) is a municipality in Portugal with a total area of 158.2 km² and a total population of 24,465 inhabitants.
The municipality is composed of 8 parishes, and is located in the district of Santarém.
The present Mayor is Paulo Simões Caldas, elected by the Socialist Party.
The municipal holiday is Ascension Day.
