Carsten Smith

Carsten Smith (b. 1932, July 13, Oslo) is a Norwegian judge and lawyer. He is a former Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Norway (1991 - 2002) and a professor of law at the University of Oslo. Among his many published works is Kausjonsrett. He is the husband of Lucy Smith, also a law professor and the former rector of the University of Oslo.

Carsten Smith was awarded the Grand Cross of the Royal Norwegian Order of St. Olav on May 13, 2003. The award was the first Grand Cross award made by H.M. King Harald V since he became king in 1991.
