Carolyn Meyer

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Carolyn Meyer (b. 8 June 1935), is the author of numerous novels for children and young adults.

Typically, she writes historical fiction, one of her more popular projects being the Young Royals series, consisting of four books, each telling the story of one of the female monarchs of the English Tudor dynasty. The fifth book for her Young Royals series — unique in the sense that it is taking place in Italy rather than England — focuses on the life of Catherine de' Medici, and will be released in June 2007. Her latest published work is Loving Will Shakespeare, the story of the childhood friendship and later romance between William Shakespeare, who would become one of the world's most famous playwrights, and Anne Hathaway, the farmer's daughter who would become his wife.

Meyer is also now working on a historical novel about Mozart and his older sister, Maria Anna Mozart, expected to be released in late-2007/early-2008.

Born an only child in Lewistown, Pennsylvania, Meyer began her first "novel", 'Humpy the Catepillar and Gladys the Snail: A True Life Romance' at age eight. (She only came to complete three chapters.)

Mother to Alan, John, and Chris, she now resides in a small town in [near] Albuquerque, New Mexico.
