On June 3, 1996, in a post on Usenet group sci.space.policy regarding the death of Dr. Timothy Leary, Meinel admitted to usage of the drug LSD as "one of the victims of brain damage who used it medically (back when it was legal) under a Ph.D. psychologist's supervision to help reprogram my brain to see normally once again."
Meinel has repeatedly been accused of slander and libel towards many individuals.[1]
