Caroline B. Mason

Caroline B. Mason is the Head of School for The Albany Academy (starting in 2003) and the Albany Academy for Girls (starting in 1993) in Albany, NY. She has the distinction of being the only person in the United States to Head two schools simultaneously. In 2006, she announced her intention of stepping down from her posts following the 2006 - 2007 academic year.
Her career includes work as a director of training for Teledyne ElectroMechanisms in Hudson, New Hampshire; principal of Mount Saint Mary High School in Nashua, New Hampshire; and a special assistant to the Mayor of the City of Nachua. From 1964 through 1984, Ms. Mason taught literature and composition at schools including Laurel School for Girls in Cleveland, Ohio; State University of New York at Oneonta; Boston Conservatory of Music; and Harvard College.
She is a published author, occasionally writing editorials for the Albany Times Union, and a member of the American, New York, and Albany County Bar Associations.
She holds an M.A. in English from Case Western Reserve University, a B.A. in English from Denison University, and has studied on the postgraduate level at University College Dublin in Ireland, Rivier College and Harvard Graduate School of Design. Ms. Mason joined the Albany Chamber of Commerce board in 1994. She is a trustee of Daniel Webster College in New Hampshire and is affiliated with the Preservation League of New York State. Before relocating to Albany, she served on the Nashua, New Hampshire Board of Education, as trustee of the Nashua Symphony Assocation and Nashua Public Library, as a director for the Nashua Federal Savings Bank and member of Nashua Historic District Commission.
In 1992, Ms. Mason was awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters from Daniel Webster College, and was a 1989 recipient of the Mayor's Award for Superior Achievement in Arts & Letters.
