Caroline B. Cooney

Caroline B. Cooney (born May 10, 1947 in Geneva, New York and raised in Old Greenwich, Connecticut) and currently living in Westbrook, Connecticut is an author of horror and mystery books for teenagers.

An avid reader, Cooney read many books while in elementary school. The three that most influenced her were Sword of The Wilderness by Elizabeth Coalsworth, Indian Captive by Lois Lenski, and Black River Captive by West Lanthrop.

Cooney played the piano, directed a chorus and was a church organ player by the time she was 15. While a teenager, she favored reading books in the The Hardy Boys and Cherry Ames series.

During college, she studied arts, music and English. It was in college that she began to write and considered writing as a career for the first time.

She has written over 100 books and earned various awards for many of them.
