Carlos Veiga

Carlos Alberto Wahnon de Carvalho Veiga (b. October 21, 1949 in Mindelo) was the second and the first democratically-elected Prime Minister of Cape Verde from April 4, 1991 to July 29, 2000. He was later succeeded by Gualberto do Rosário.
He ran for president in the elections of 2001 and 2006, but narrowly lost both times to Pedro Pires.
