Carlo Cafiero

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Carlo Cafiero (September 1, 1846 - July 17, 1892) was an important Italian anarchist and champion of Mikhail Bakunin during the second half of the 19th century.

He was born in Barletta, Apulia.

Originally a member of the First International, due to his friendship with Karl Marx and Frederick Engels, he was eventually imprisoned for his beliefs. He split with Marxism, in part due to Italy's sweeping following of Bakunin's anarchist ideology.

He died in Nocera Inferiore in 1892.
