From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Fredrik Carl Mülertz Størmer (1874 – 1957) was a Norwegian mathematician and physicist who studied the movement of charged particles in the magnetosphere and the formation of aurorae. He used the Verlet method in his research, which is therefore also known as Störmer's method. In number theory he is noted for several theorems, in particular Størmer's theorem on superparticular ratios.
