Carl Johan Arthur Bernadotte, Count Bernadotte af Wisborg, formerly Prince Carl Johan Arthur of Sweden, Duke of Dalarna (born October 31, 1916), is the fourth son of King Gustaf VI Adolf of Sweden and Princess Margaret of Connaught. Carl Johan lost his succession rights and all titles in 1946 when he married a woman who was neither royal nor noble, Elin Kerstin Margaretha Wijkmark (1910-1987). He later married Gunilla Countess Wachtmeister af Johannishus (born 1923) in 1988.
He was created Count af Wisborg by Grand Duchess Charlotte of Luxembourg on July 2, 1951 and is the last surviving male great-grandchild of Queen Victoria of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland since the death of his older brother Sigvard. The last surviving female great-grandchild of Queen Victoria is Lady Katherine Brandram.
Count Carl has no biological children, but he has two adopted children:
- Monica Kristina Margaretha Bernadotte (born March 5, 1948, adopted in 1951). Married (16 January 1976) and divorced (1997) Count Johan Peder Bonde af Björnö (born 5 May 1950 at Göteborg, Sweden) They have three children:
- Countess Ebba Kristina Bonde af Björnö, born 20 October 1980
- Countess Marianne Cecilia Bonde af Björnö, born 29 September 1982
- Count Carl Johan Peder Bonde af Björnö, born 14 April 1984
- Christian Carl Henning Bernadotte (born December 3, 1949, adopted in 1950). Married 13 September 1980 Marianne Jenny (born 31 January 1958 in Zurich) They have three children:
- Christina Bernadotte, born 28 May 1983 at Cleveland, Ohio
- Richard Bernadotte, born 8 June 1985 at Cleveland, Ohio
- Philip Bernadotte, born 18 May 1988 at Atlanta, Georgia
Count Carl Johan celebrated his 90th birthday on October 31, 2006.
