Carl Hoefkens (born October 6, 1978 in Lier) is a Belgian international footballer. He is currently playing as a defender for Stoke City and has played for his country nine times.
He started his career at K. Lierse S.K. and played there for six years before taking a move to Germinal Ekeren but his move turned into a nightmare, cruelly messing up his one year career but Stoke City manager, Johan Boskamp snapped him up for an undisclosed fee. So far Hoefkens has been ever-present in the Stoke line-up and wears the number 2 shirt.
Hoefkens has received acclaim for his performances in his first season in English football. He has become a fans favourite at Stoke and was recently crowned 'Fans' Player of the year (2005-2006. He recently won his 9th cap for his country against Kazakhstan (0-0).
He played in 1997 FIFA World Youth Championship.
