[edit] The CBU

Prior to the merger, the Caribbean Broadcasting Union (CBU) founded in 1969 was an agency created by the Caribbean regions' television providers. Creating several regionalised programs including "CaribScope", "the Caribbean Newsline", "the Caribbean Business Weekly", and "CaribVision" among other programming aired in each island, the CBU was often embattled in a power-struggle between the Caribbean region's many television based media houses given their priavte investment in the firm. Leadership of the agency was mainly rotated between representatives of the affiliated media houses.
