Indeed, it is most exciting to be a part of something as big as Wikipedia. However I am at a loss concerning what I can help with, as there are so many things to do here.

[edit] Science fiction
Your post didn't state that you had finished the first novel in the series. Unless you have a completed manuscript, the fiction market won't nibble. Have you published short stories in Analog or F&SF? They're receptive to new writers and a magazine publication history could prompt a book publisher to regard your query more seriously. - Actually you're incorrect, Durova. Most agents and publishers don't want completed manuscripts, they want the first three chapters and a synopsis. It's completely normal and acceptable to seek interested literary agents and publishers before the completion of the work, and in fact it's sometimes preferable. I agree with you about the self-publishing/e-book advice, though. Anchoress 05:51, 16 September 2006 (UTC)
I've done a bit more reading on Xel's genre and it's a mixed bag. A few samples (more or less random because Google gives them a high page rank):
- Full manuscript:
- Three chapters, but novel must be completed prior to submission:
- Two chapters, no requirement to have a completed manuscript when submitting:

[edit] Other projects you might be interested in
From your proposed Wikiproject, I think you might want to know about the test Quenya Wikipedia over at the Wikimedia Incubator. They definitely need a devoted community over there!
Also, if you're interested in cataloging the details of the Star Trek universe, then Memory Alpha is a great place to go.
There's also Wookiepedia, if you like That Other Franchise too. Best of luck to you! — Catherine\talk 08:25, 6 October 2006 (UTC)
