Captain Raymus Antilles was the commander of the Tantive IV.
Initially, he was Senator Bail Organa's brother-in-law and chief of Security during the collapse of the Old Republic, to whom Organa gave ownership of the droids C-3PO and R2D2.
During the oppression of the Galactic Empire Raymus helped Bail rescue beings in need. He was in command of the Tantive IV when Darth Vader and his stormtroopers seized the ship and demanded to know where the stolen Death Star plans were being kept. One of Antilles' officers, despite being strangled in Vader's grip, refused to betray the mission of delivering the plans to the Rebel Alliance, claiming that the Tantive IV was on a diplomatic mission. Vader promptly killed the man with a final squeeze of the fist and threw his body to the floor with contempt. (Contrary to some fans' speculation, in some versions of the canon this officer was not in fact Captain Antilles, just one of the officers serving under him, however the radio version of Episode IV confirmed that the man killed by Vader was Captain Antilles. In Episode III, Antilles spoke with a British accent, whereas the officer murdered by Vader in this scene spoke with an American accent.) While at least the radio version of Episode IV settled the ultimate fate of Captain Antilles, it is rather unlikely that he survived if at all, as the Empire would have killed or imprisoned all of the ship's surviving crew.
He has no relation to Wedge Antilles of the original trilogy, although, perhaps as an inside joke, Lucas invited Denis Lawson to play Captain Antilles in Revenge of the Sith. Lawson declined.
