Symbol of Capricorn

Capricorn is an astrological sign, which is associated with the constellation Capricornus. Under the tropical zodiac, Capricorn is occupied by the Sun from December 22 to January 20, and under the sidereal zodiac, it is currently from January 15 to February 12. The opposite sign to Capricorn is Cancer.

Capricorn is the tenth sign of the Zodiac and associated with hard work and business affairs. Individuals born under this sign are thought to have an ambitious, patient, responsible, stable, trustworthy, shrewd and persistent character but one which is also prone to coldness, conservatism, rigidity, materialism, and dullness. In terms of anatomy, Capricorn is said to rule the knees, bones, and skin. In terms of geography, Capricorn is linked with Albania, Bulgaria, India, and Mexico.

Physically, individuals born under the sign of Capricorn supposedly tend to have straight and dark hair, steady eyes, a dark complexion, capable hands, and prominent cheekbones.

Capricorn is associated with the Greek Myth of the nanny goat who provided Zeus with his milk as a babe. When she died, Zeus placed her body in the sky to honor her. Capricorn is also associated with the Greco-Roman god Cronus/Saturn and also sometimes the god Aristaeus. In Sumerian Mythology, Capricorn is sometimes associated with Enki.

Capricorn is often depicted as having the lower half of a fish. This is due to Capricorn's antiquated classification as a Water sign (sea-goat), while modern astrology holds that Capricorn is indubitably an Earth sign.
