The Cape Wrath Trail is a 200 mile walking route from Fort William to Cape Wrath on the north west tip of Scotland's north coast.
It is a non-waymarked unofficial route, largely attributed to author and photographer David Paterson and his book, The Cape Wrath Trail, 1996. There is another book, North to the Cape, 1999 by Denis Brook and Phil Hinchliffe, which details a slightly different route.
The CWT is generally considered to be the toughest and most challenging long distance route in the UK. Those attempting it should have a fair degree of competence as facilities on route are minimal.
