Cape Verdean football Championships

The Cape Verdean football (or soccer) Championships were created in 1976. A local championship was founded in 1953 when Cape Verde was not independent and was part of the Portuguese Empire.

The championship is played out in a tournament between the champions of the nine islands (the 10th island, Santa Luzia is not inhabited).
