Cape Canaveral Air Force Station Launch Complex 26

Cape Canaveral Air Force Station Launch Compex 26 (LC-26) was a launch site at Merritt Island, Florida.
It was used for the Jupiter and Jupiter-C rockets, and notably, was the launch site for Explorer 1, the United States first satellite, in 1958.

In its early years, it was used to launch ballistic missiles on test flights, and may have been used in the event of a nuclear strike at the Soviet Union if nuclear war began.
On February 1, 1958, the United States Air Force launched the United States first satellite, Explorer I from LC-26A.

LC-26 is the home of the Air Force Space and Missile Museum. Access to the museum at launch complex 26 as well as the adjoining LC-5 and 6 by the general public can be arranged through the Kennedy Space Center Visitor's Center.
