The quartier naturiste is a large fenced-off part at the north-eastern edge of the town. It is the largest nudist resorts in the world, where nudity is legal and common in the whole resort, incl. its restaurants and shops, during the whole day (24/7). In the evening, when it gets colder, more people are dressed, often in revealing clothes. The local tax is € 0.90 per person and per day (2006).
Village Naturiste is a city by itself, with a 2km long beach, port and marina, campsite, apartment complexes, hotel, shops, restaurants, bars, post office, bank and ATMs, laundrettes, hairdressers, tennis courts, and other such facilities.
[edit] The Nudist Beach
The nudist beach is about 2km long and 30m wide, that can be segmented in three parts:
- Family area for couples, singles, families and kids at its south end
- Adult area for adult couples
- Gay area at the north end
Sand and water are of good quality and between 16 and 20 degrees C warm. Two security posts feature police and medical facilities. An ice cream vendor is the only commercial activity along the beach.
While technically illegal, young and old couples (and some interested single males) meet at the adult section of the beach and engage in subtle and tender petting and love-making, including touching, kissing, hand jobs and oral sex. The adult section can be easily identified by its very high concentration of people. [citation needed]
