this article needs it. I'm tempted to simply delete the legaility section, it has nothing to do with the culture, but the effects. I think that section would be better in a section about effects of cannabis. ReverendG 19:06, 11 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Why does this article exist?

I am really not sure why this article exists or whether it should exist. Can anyone give me some persuasive reasons not to put an Wikipedia:Articles for deletion tag on it? I particularly disliked the ideological bit, implying that most cannabis smokers worldwide (this is an international encyclopedia) tend to hold to a set of woolly beliefs that are actually only held by a minority of cannabis users. The music section is incredibly flaky. it would be better to start with jazz not the Beatles, and the lines between cannabis and LSD culture were far too fuzzy. But that can all be fixed. my basic problem is that other than in the fact of consumption, and for many people the fact of illegal purchase and consumption, cannabis smokers actually don't have a culture in common, they belong to many cultural groups in many different cultures and span a wide age range. If you want an article about hippy or psychedelic culture don't call it Cannabis culture, and we already have stoner, and maybe the people like the ones being described here should have that description applied in that article, SqueakBox 19:49, 12 December 2005 (UTC)

I agree the article is poor- bit of a cliché, really. I agree especially with your comments on its musical shortcomings and the cannabis/LSD line. I disagree, however, that there is no such thing as a cannabis culture, especially your statement that, cannabis smokers actually don't have a culture in common. There is a compelling need to have a good article here, but this isn't it, and it may be worse than nothing. -SM 20:07, 12 December 2005 (UTC)

Well I am seeing whether improving it makes a difference, it is quite different now. I have problems with the idea that all users are young leftists who don't work and believe a lot of mumbo-jumbo, SqueakBox 20:19, 12 December 2005 (UTC)

i removed the part about adiction because it was simply useless.

It looks like someone went ahead and got rid of the article, anyone have a back-up?
