Canyon Lake is a gated community in Riverside County, California, United States. As of July 1, 2004, the city had an estimated total population of over 11,161, a 12.18% increase from the 2000 census. [1]

Canyon Lake is located at GR1.
(33.684203, -117.255623)According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 12.1 km² (4.7 mi²). 10.4 km² (4.0 mi²) of it is land and 1.8 km² (0.7 mi²) of it (14.71%) is water.

As of the censusGR2 of 2000, there were 9,952 people, 3,643 households, and 2,939 families residing in this city. The population density was 960.6/km² (2,485.9/mi²). There were 4,047 housing units at an average density of 390.6/km² (1,010.9/mi²). The racial makeup of the city was 92.93% White, 0.81% Black or African American, 0.35% Native American, 1.54% Asian, 0.11% Pacific Islander, 1.82% from other races, and 2.44% from two or more races. 8.52% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There were 3,643 households out of which 34.9% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 70.5% were married couples living together, 6.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 19.3% were non-families. 14.3% of all households were made up of individuals and 6.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.73 and the average family size was 3.00.
In the city the population was spread out with 25.9% under the age of 18, 5.2% from 18 to 24, 26.9% from 25 to 44, 25.1% from 45 to 64, and 16.9% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 41 years. For every 100 females there were 96.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 98.1 males.
The median income for a household in the city was $70,106, and the median income for a family was $72,317. Males had a median income of $57,413 versus $36,016 for females. The per capita income for the city was $29,646. About 3.0% of families and 4.9% of the population were below the poverty line, including 7.3% of those under age 18 and 1.9% of those age 65 or over.

Students attend school in the Lake Elsinore Unified School District. Students typically attend Cottonwood Elementary, Canyon Lake Middle and Temescal Canyon High School. Mt. San Jacinto College is located in nearby Menifee.
