The cannon elephant is a unit featured in Creative Assembly's Medieval 2: Total War for the PC. Despite claims by Creative Assembly to the contrary, cannon elephants did not actually exist. The inclusion of this unit in a self-proclaimed 'realistic' game appears to stem from a snafu. A certain CA programmer, who also happened to be an avid fan of ancient board games, mistakenly took two units from Chinese Chess as one. Having done so, this programmer concluded that such an entity was present historically in the eastern world.
