Candidate of Law
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Candidate of Law (cand. jur. or candidatus/candidata juris, in Sweden jur. kand) is the title awarded to jurists who have passed the state exam of law in Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland and Iceland at one of the state universities, after studying law for about 5 years.
The Swedish jur kand is obtained after four and a half years, at the normal pace. Danish, Icelandic and Norwegian degrees take five years, whereas the Finnish degree takes four years.
It is roughly equal to the English Bachelor of Laws, the American Juris Doctor, or the German second juristic state exam.
