Regional profile

Rural Alberta is clearly Canada's most conservative region. It is almost certain that the Conservatives will sweep the region once again with astronomical pluralities in many ridings. This was always the base of support for the former Reform and Canadian Alliance parties from 1993 to 2000 and the former PC Party swept in every election before that in recent memory. With the Liberals introducing legislation such as the budget deal with the New Democratic Party and same-sex marriage which are extremely unpopular here, and with western alienation at an all-time high, it is expected that the domination will simply be entrenched even more. The only interesting story here could be some of the best results in Canada for the Green Party, who could finish (a very distant) second in some ridings, as the Liberals and NDP are extremely weak here.
