Canadian Linguistics Association

The Canadian Linguistic Association (CLA), which was founded in 1955, has as its aim the promotion of the study of languages and linguistics in Canada. In order to further this aim, the CLA publishes a scholarly journal and organizes an annual conference. The CLA is a constituent member of the Humanities and Social Sciences Federation of Canada and represents Canada in the Permanent International Committee of Linguists (CIPL). The association welcomes all those with an interest in linguistic research, whatever their perspective.
The CLA holds an annual linguistics conference Only members of the Association are eligible to propose papers for the annual meeting, which is held annually at the Congress of the Social Sciences and Humanities. Members are also eligible to vote in the Association's elections.
The CLA publishes the Canadian Journal of Linguistics four times per year.
