The Canadian Hockey Association was founded in 1909 as the top hockey league, replacing the Eastern Canada Amateur Hockey Association. The league folded in January 1910 without concluding the championship and was then amalgamated into the National Hockey Association for the 1910-11 season. The five teams which took part in the league were All-Montreal HC, Montreal Nationals, Montreal Shamrocks, Ottawa Senators, and Quebec Bulldogs.
The modern governing body for hockey in Canada is still occasionally called the Canadian Hockey Association, but that organization merged with the Canadian Amateur Hockey Association in 1994 to form a governing body that is officially known as Hockey Canada.
