Canadian Civil War
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Canadian Civil War or the Former Dominion War is a fictional war in the futuristic historical fiction novel, "The Canadian Civil Struggle War" by an unknown author. The story takes place in a war-torn depression-like Canada sometime in the 22nd century. The country has divided over the decades and is no longer a large country. Each of the seventeen provinces and territories, including Nunatsiavut, Baffin Island (which separated from Nunavut in 2046), Cape Breton Island (which separated from Nova Scotia in 2094), and Labrador (which separated from Newfoundland in 2017 to form two separate provinces), have each formed their own nations after more than thirty years of American occupation from 2060-2093.

[edit] Reasons For Fighting
Fighting broke out among the new countries. No one exactly knows why, but some people believed that they were disputing over land that belonged to them, thus the term "civil war" is technically incorrect, as it involved many nations fighting. Others believe that some were fighting to reunite the former Dominion of Canada into one country again, although the fighting was done with diplomacy and reason. Some believe they went to war do defend their new country from invading forces, or in response to a cry for help from another nation. The reason is unclear.
[edit] Vermillion Night
The war officially began at 6:54 p.m. on March 21, 2100. This date, also known as the Vermillion Night, was the night that Québec invaded New Brunswick, thus triggering neighbouring countries to attack Québec.
[edit] Allies and Enemies
Groups of military alliances were few. They were often very unstable as each country would be either attacked "rabbit punch" style by its ally, or align with a nation who is secretly attacking another ally, thus turning the other ally against it.
[edit] Warring Nations
Every former Canadian province was involved in the fighting. Here is a list of fighting nations:
- Vancouver (formerly known as British Columbia)
- West Buffalo (formerly known as Alberta, and as Buffalo along with Saskatchewan)
- East Buffalo (formerly known as Saskatchewan, and as Buffalo along with Alberta)
- Manitoba
- Ontario (except for the southernmost tip which is owned by U.S)
- Québec
- New Brunswick
- Nova Scotia
- Prince Edward Island
- Grand Banks (formerly known as Newfoundland)
- Labrador
- Nunatsiavut
- Cape Breton Island
- Baffin Island
- Nunavut
- North-West Territory (name changed from Northwest Territories in 2033)
- Yukon (or Yukon Territory)
[edit] Fall of Ottawa
The "Fall of Ottawa" was an historic, tragic event that happened on August 10, 2059. Canadian rebels, with ties to al-Qaeda, stormed Parliament Hill, assassinated many government officals, and by the end of the day, overtook the entire city of Ottawa. In about two days, al-Qaeda had complete control of Ontario and were now seeking domination of Canada in the name of Islam.
[edit] Canadian Defense
Al-Qaeda forces marched into surrounding provinces one day later, and triggered Québec and Manitoba to defend themselves. After about fourteen hours of fighting, al-Qaeda retreated back into Ontario.
