Canada West Foundation

The Canada West Foundation is a Canadian public policy research group, founded in 1971 by the Honourable James Richardson, Arthur J. E. Child, Frederick C. Mannix, and G. Maxwell Bell. It is based in Calgary, Alberta, with a branch office in Vancouver, British Columbia. The CWF conducts and communicates non-partisan economic and public policy research on issues relating to Western Canada, with the goal of helping to build a strong West as part of a strong Canada. It is a federally registered charity. It reported assets of $4.3 million CAD in 2004.

The foundation is governed by a board of directors consisting of: Doug Allen, Carl Amrhein, David Barnard, Jim Carr, Jim Dinning, Brenda Eaton, Murray Edwards, Jim Eldridge, Brian Felesky, Gary Filmon, Jock Finlayson, James K. Gray, Jim Hume, George Ivany, Bob Linner, Ronald Mathison, Ray McKay, Peter Meekison, H. Sanford Riley, Tony Stewart, Gail Surkan, Susan Thompson, Robert Westbury, and Dick Wilson.
