Can-Am Connection

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Can-Am Connection was a tag team comprised of Rick Martel and Tom Zenk in the WWF through 1986 and 1987.

Martel and Zenk came to the WWF from the AWA together. They wrestled The Magnificent Muraco and "Cowboy" Bob Orton at WrestleMania III, winning the match. The team never got into any major feuds until they wrestled The Islanders on WWF Superstars of Wrestling in the summer of 1987. In this match, the Islanders turned heel by revealing their association with manager Bobby "The Brain" Heenan. Soon after, however, Zenk had a dispute with WWF owner Vince McMahon. He left the company, and tag matches between the Can-Ams and The Islanders were turned into one on one matches between Martel and either of the Islanders. Tito Santana would later join Martel in the feud, forming the spin-off to the Can-Am Connection, Strike Force, and they went on to win the World Tag-Team Championship.
