Campus Outreach

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Campus Outreach is a network of interdenominational Christian organizations, focusing on evangelizing and discipling college students worldwide under the mission statement "Glorifying God by Building Laborers on the Campus for the Lost World."

Campus Outreach is distinguished from similar organizations such as Campus Crusade for Christ in that it focuses on small to mid-sized campuses where another ministry does not have a presence. In addition, the Campus Outreach method of evangelism focuses on building relationships, eschewing tools such as tracts in favor of face-to-face conversation about the direction and purpose of one's life.

[edit] Mission Statement

The Campus Outreach Mission Statement is "building laborers on the campus for the lost world." It is based upon the "Great Commission" outlined in Matthew 28:19-20.

[edit] Franchise

Campus Outreach is not one cohesive organization: Rather, it is a network of organizations that are franchised to local churches in the target area. The organization then effectively becomes the college ministry of that church, with the staff answering both to the Campus Outreach board and the leadership of that church.

[edit] Fundraising

  • Staff members raise financial support for their living expenses before being considered "on-staff."
  • Students also are permitted to raise support for the summer training project.
  • In both instances, donations are made to the Campus Outreach organization, so that they may be tax-deductible.
