From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Campos dos Goitacazes is a city located in the North of Rio de Janeiro State in Brazil. It's name comes from the geographical characteristic of the region, very flat with fields ("campos" in Portuguese) and from the Goytacazes Indians, that inhabitated the region. It has the biggest oil reserves in Brazil, located in "Bacia de Campos", some miles from the shore of "Cabo de São Tomé". It was the first place in South America to have electric light, in the 19th century.
